Ming Dynasty is a legend in Chinese history. Meanwhile, it is favored by most of Chinese people as well. Except from its great achievement on territory, diplomacy and economy, Ming porcelain also plays an irreplaceable role in the whole Chinese porcelain development. So as to speak, It’s impossible to understand porcelain of the Ming Dynasty without learning of Ming history and emperors.
The Ming Dynasty had 16 emperors ruling the country for 276 years from 1368 to 1644, which made the complexity and varieties of description of the Ming porcelain. However, there are people dividing it into three stages, the early Ming dynasty, the middle Ming Dynasty and the late Ming Dynasty based on the process of porcelain change. Different stages emerged different types of porcelain with its features and distinctive style.
